Kilkenny Hurling legend Eddie Keher is to be given the Freedom of Kilkenny City.
Members of the Municipal Council unanimously agreed on proposal at its meeting yesterday.
Keher made his senior debut in the 1959 championship and went on to win six All-Ireland medals, ten Leinster medals and three National Hurling League medals. He also captained the team to All-Ireland victory in 1969.
Fine Gael Councillor Michael Doyle, who proposed the motion, says the Inistioge mans achievements on and off the field merited the Freedom of the City.
