The signing of a formal twinning charter between Kilkenny and Italian city, Formiginie will have huge benefits for the county.
So says local Councillor Malcolm Noonan after the document was signed by both Mayors at the weekend.
Councillor Noonan says there have been unofficial links between the two cities for around 10 years now with exchanges on issues like social inclusion, community development, food, culture, tourism and heritage.
He says its been a succesful partnership and in a post brexit world it will be even more important to reach out to other European partners to share values and ideas.
