A Kilkenny woman and KCLR presenter is among those set to be inducted into the IMRO Radio Awards Hall of Fame.
Carol Dooley began her career with at a local pirate set-up Kilkenny Community Radio (KCR) in 1978 at the age of 12. She’s gone on in her four decades of broadcasting to work with a range of stations across the UK, Europe and the United States, she can currently be heard on Sunshine 106.8 and as part of KCLR’s Sunday lineup.
The move recognises not only the exceptional careers of these broadcasters but also their ongoing passion and commitment to the industry. Each of these individuals continues to captivate audiences with their unique talents, proving that radio remains a vibrant and essential medium in the digital age.

Carol, with Eddie Caffrey (LMFM), Ray D’ARcy (RTE Radio 1) and Hugo Duncan (BBC Northern Ireland) form the latest inductees for which a special ceremony will take place later today ahead of the industry’s biggest event which returns to Lyrath Estate Hotel in Kilkenny on the 4th of October.
