The founder of a Kilkenny-based counselling and suicide prevention charity says she’s looking forward to addressing an international audience of thousands this week.
Angela Hayes of Teach Tom has been invited to speak at the annual Youth Festival in Medjugorje which attracts more than 50,000 young people every year.
This isn’t the first time the local woman has spoken to young people there about how suicide has affected her family but it is the first time she’ll be addressing an international crowd of this scale.
Speaking to KCLR News from Medjugorje Angela says these talks do help people.
Meanwhile, a new Teach Tom office is being opened in Stradbally, Co Laois in the coming weeks.
This will be the first office outside of Kilkenny.
Speaking to KCLR News, Angela says this new office won’t be a walk-in service straight away but it will be a place for people in that area to go to once they call Teach Tom for help.
