Land prices jump in Carlow but drop in Kilkenny

It’s now more expensive to buy farm land in Carlow than it is in Kilkenny.

New figures from the 2017 Farmers’ Journal Annual Land Price Report show that Kilkenny is bucking the trend nationally and has seen a 10% drop in the price of an acre compared with the year before – to €9,600.

Carlow is a different story – the county has seen a 17% increase with the average price per acre now €12,178.

Speaking to KCLR News, Anthony Jordan of the Farmers’ Journal says Carlow’s jump was surprising.
