Leaving cert students in Carlow and Kilkenny urged to be aware of new grading system

A Carlow guidance counsellor says in reality very little will be changing with the new Leaving Cert grading system.

There’s just under one week to go until local students pick up their results next Wednesday.

The new system – Common points scale – means that 14 different results have been reduced to just eight, ranging from H1-H8 for Higher Level and O1- O2 for Ordinary Level papers.

Gemma Lawler is a guidance counsellor with the new Tyndall College in Carlow, she told KCLR News what it’ll mean for students.
