Legislation that would reunite East Carlow with the rest of this constituency will go through the Seanad today.
The Electoral Amendment Bill was passed by the Dáil without a vote on Tuesday evening and will now be debated in the upper house.
It’s been more than 20 years since the people in that area – which includes Rathvilly, Hacketstown, Clonmore and Tinnock – have been able to vote for political candidates from their own county.
Local politicians say they’re hopeful today’s debate will just be a formality.
