Kilkenny’s newest tourist attraction to open its doors today

Today is the day when Kilkenny’s newest visitor attraction finally opens its doors to the public.

Over 6 million euro has been invested by groups including Fáilte Ireland and Kilkenny County Council to develop the Medieval Mile Museum in St Mary’s Church in the city.

It’s being run by Kilkenny Civic Trust and elaborate stone carvings, ancient documents and artefacts dating from the 13th century are just some of the things on display.

Ciarán Conroy from the Trust says a huge amount of work has been done there in just the last couple of years.

The museum will be free to visitors today and again on Saturday March 4th.
