Work is starting now to try and ensure a local heritage site is preserved for future generations.
A public meeting to plan the next steps in the protection and promotion of St Moling’s Millrace in Carlow is taking place this afternoon.
Just a number of weeks ago the Millrace – which is said to date from the 7th century – was picked to take part in the Heritage Council’s adopt a monument scheme.
The initiative encourages communities to have an active part in promoting their own history.
Community Development worker with St Mullins Amenity, Recreation and Tourism group, Bridie Lawlor says they’ll be trying to come up with a long-term plan for the site.
The meeting is taking place in Glynn Church at 2 o’clock.
