A deeply, deeply distressing read.
That’s how Minister Roderic O’Gorman’s described the report into historic sexual abuse cases at 300 schools run by religious orders across the country, including at least nine in Carlow and Kilkenny.
A statutory inquiry has been announced to investigate these.
Minister O’Gorman’s in Kilkenny for a two day visit, stopping off last night at Ossory Youth in the city before launching Ireland’s Third River Basin Management Plan in Thomastown later today.
He told KCLR News’ Angela Doyle Stuart he believes the recommended redress scheme will be established.
