A new carpark on the border of Carlow and Kilkenny has gotten the go-ahead.
Carlow County Council has given the green light to begin works on the facility on their side of Goresbridge.
80 spaces will be provided it’s expected by May of this year with a new footpath linking Ballyellen to the Goodly Barrow museum and café.
Cllr Thomas Kinsella told KCLR why this is an important development for the area noting; “For a number of years now we have had an issue there where Carlow joins Kilkenny, it’s very popular for walkers, a lot of people park their cars, we didn’t have any parking spaces, 80 car parking spaces in that carpark will be of great benefit for that area, not alone will it take cars off the road but it’ll make it much safer for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists that will be using that road and it will be of great benefit for people who come to walk along the Barrow”.
