The Kilkenny Regional Water Supply Scheme fits into Uisce Eireann’s goal of building a foundation for long term sustainability.
Following a €33million investment the treatment plant at Troyswood is twice the size allowing for it to cater for those who were served by the now decommissioned facility at Radestown.
Currently with 28,000 customers, it has capacity for more which allows for further development of homes and businesses in the city and surrounds.
Promising to provide a safe, dependable and sustainable source of water, the plant’s flora and fauna has also been considered with the installation of a lift to ensure fish don’t get caught up there, while 10,000 native trees are being planted on site.
Yesterday, the works completion was marked – KCLR News’ Edwina Grace was there and spoke to some attendees – hear that here;
