It’s likely to be mid-May before a name for the new Central Access Scheme bridge is decided.
The closing date for members of the public to comment on the eight names shortlisted was last Friday.

The Naming Committee is due to meet again on May the 4th and a name will then be brought before the next full meeting of Kilkenny County Council on May 15th.
Included in the shortlist are St Francis Bridge, Edmond Smithwick Bridge, Berkeley Bridge and Strongbow’s Bridge.
In a KCLR online poll the name with most of the votes, 24% was the Edmond Smithwick, with St Francis Bridge a close second at 23%.
