The Carlow Kilkenny Dog shelter is officially under new management.
After the ISPCA withdrew from the pound the council tendered for a new service provider earlier this year.
Kilkenny county council has now confirmed that Midland Animal Care who are based in Offaly took over on July 1st and are now running operations in Paulstown.
They also provide a similar service for Clare, Roscommon and Offaly county councils.
