For the first time since the fire of 1985, major works are to take place on Kilkenny’s City Hall.
The building is there since the 16th century and today an open day is being held between 2 and 4 o’clock for anyone interested in finding out the plans.
There’ll be work to make the basement area and the tower accessible but it’s also planned to do work on the area just outside the door.
Glass walls are to be put up to make an exhibition area which some have expressed concerns about.
However, Senior Engineer, Tony Lauhoff thinks it will be a positive development because it will allow a link to be created between the Medieval Mile Museum and the Tholsel itself.
