Pat Deering wants the part of Carlow that moved into the Wicklow constituency brought back

The Constituency Commission is being asked to examine the possibility of reuniting the Carlow constituency.

The call comes from Fine Gael TD, Pat Deering, who wants the part of Carlow that moved into the Wicklow constituency brought back.

It comes after the latest census data suggests the population of Co. Wicklow is now large enough to allow for the creation of a stand-alone, Wicklow County, 5 seat Constituency.

According to Deputy Deering, it’s “crucial that the people of Carlow are well represented in the Dáil”

And he says it’s now up to the constituency commission to make the final decision.
