Patients are dying needlessly – because of the state of the health sector warns IAEM

Patients are dying needlessly – because of the state of the health sector.

That’s the warning from the Irish Association for Emergency Medicine.

It follows revelations this week that a record almost 58,000 were on trolleys in the first seven months of the year – thousands over the age of 75 for longer than 24 hours.

Locally, there were more than 2,400 on trolleys in the ED at St Luke’s Hospital for Carlow/Kilkenny between January and July.
