A petition to wind up Avondale Nursing home in Callan has been lodged.
The local nursing home was closed by HIQA in July 2011 and owner Miriam Holmes and her daughter Hayley who were running it left Ireland a short time afterwards.

The winding up petition was lodged last Monday on behalf of Bridget Brander – a former employee at the home.
