A portrait of one of Kilkenny’s greatest hurlers is being unveiled in the National Gallery of Ireland today.
Henry Shefflin, hurling’s most decorated player, has now been immortalised on canvas by artist Gerry Davis, for the National Portrait Collection.
Over a 16-year-period, Henry won a record 10 All-Ireland medals, 13 Leinster Championships and six National Hurling League Titles.
The portrait being unveiled at 1 o’clock this afternoon was commissioned as part of the Hennessy Portrait Prize 2016.
