An Post is said to be considering closing 200 outlets around the country.

According to the Sunday Independent the mail company now believes closing 80 post offices as suggested in the as of yet unpublished Kerr report won’t go far enough to shore up its finances.

It’s not yet known if any of the proposed closures will effect post offices in Carlow or Kilkenny.

The newspaper says a full decision will be taken by An Post by this summer on how it will deal with it’s money woes.

Last week the firm announced it needs to increase the price of a standard stamp to €1.00.
