The process to reopen Leighlinbridge Garda Station in Carlow has officially begun.
The acting Garda Commissioner has decided to reopen the station there and in five other locations around the country after it was recommended in a Garda report earlier this year.
Leighlinbridge station was shut down in January of 2013 along with a number of other stations in this division.
Speaking to KCLR News Carlow deputy Pat Deering says works to bring the station up to standard again will have to happen first and the aim is to have the station open by the end of next year.
