A Carlow woman says something seriously needs to be done to address animal neglect and cruelty in this country.
Jessica Holden says her partner came across four terrier puppies that had dumped in a bin at a garage on the O’Brien Road in Carlow recently.
In the last week KCLR has reported on two cases in Kilkenny where horses either died or had to be put down after suffering cruelty.
Jessica says these pups – which were about three weeks old – had been put into a freezer bag, and while they weren’t injured, they were extremely hungry.
Speaking to KCLR News, Jessica says that they’ve all now gone to good homes but there’s nothing in place to stop someone else doing the same thing.
