Today is the last chance for candidates to register to run in the upcoming Carlow/Kilkenny by-election.
Noon today is the deadline for those interested in contesting for Phil Hogan’s empty Dáil seat to get their papers in to the returning officer.
For those running as Independents a deposit of 500 euro is required or statutory declarations by 30 assentors from the constituency.
While for those running on behalf of a particular party, they need only provide a certificate confirming their affiliation to that party.
Those candidates that do officially register today will then have 24 hours, until 12 noon tomorrow, to change their minds.
