Revamp plans lodged for Aldi outlet in Tullow, Co Carlow
Five new jobs are to be created

Aldi Ireland is bidding to extend and fully revamp its store in Tullow.
The retailer’s lodged a planning application with Carlow County Council for the project which it hopes to pursue in mid-2022.
If it gets the go-ahead, the extended outlet will see the shopping space increased by 26% with a full ‘Project Fresh’ award-winning makeover, including new hi-spec fixtures and fittings.
There will also be the provision of two new electric vehicle charging points and ten bike parking spaces.
The current shop opened in February 2007 on the Dublin Road and employes 22 full-time staff.
Should the expansion be realised it’s expected five further permanent positions would also be created.
Commenting on the announcement, Donald Mackay, Regional Managing Director said “Our new and improved Aldi store will provide an even better shopping experience for customers in Tullow. The Aldi Tullow team are excited by this announcement, and we are looking forward to the store being revamped in line with Aldi’s award-winning Project Fresh store layout. In addition, it’s great to see five new jobs being created in the town”.
Aldi also recently submitted a planning application to replace and upgrade its Hanover Road, Carlow store, with hopes to start that project next year.
In total 70 full-time staff are employed in Aldi outlets in Carlow with €4million spent on wages annually across the county. 35,000 meals have been donated to local charities by the Carlow branches with each store also part of Aldi’s Community Grants network, with Éist Cancer Support Centre Carlow and Forward Steps Resource Centre, Tullow among those to avail of the €500 bursary grant in recent times.
