Kilkenny man resigns from top job at VCI less than a year in the role

The President of the Veterinary Council of Ireland, Kilkenny man Joseph Walsh, has resigned from his role and as a member of the Council.

The Mullinavat man, who has a private practice in Carrick-on-Suir only took up the role in January.

His resignation was accepted at a Council meeting on August the 26th, with members thanking him for his four-and-a-half years of service, including his time as President.

It follows reports that Mr Walsh had been suspended from carrying out TB testing by the Department of Agriculture, required to undergo retraining, and was later reinstated.

A spokesperson for the VCI said that: “The Council will consider the process for electing a new President at its meeting in September.”
