School attendance one of the main issues being raised at INTO conference in Kilkenny next week

Child attendance at school will be an issue at the INTO National Conference in Kilkenny next week.

But parents taking children out to go on family holidays won’t be high on the agenda.

Teachers and the Education Minister have recently come out against the practice saying it can have a very detrimental effect on the student’s progress.

Joe McKeown is a local teacher who’s on the INTO Central Executive Committee.

He says while it is an issue there are more serious things to consider.
