St Francis Bridge will open to traffic in Kilkenny this morning

Kilkenny’s Central Access Scheme bridge finally opens to traffic today.

The recently-named St Francis Bridge hasn’t been without its controversies and was the site of a major protest back in 2014.

This morning at 11am the newest crossing on the River Nore will be open to motorists but you are being warned that a number of new STOP signs will also come into effect at Vicar Street, Wolfetone Street & Greensbridge Street.

The official opening of St Francis Bridge will take place next Tuesday.
