Hospitals are charging staggering Parking Fees a new report has revealed.
The Irish Farmer’s Journal reveals some hospitals charge up to €9 per hour for parking, adding to the strain on families during difficult times.
Cork University Hospital and St. Vincent’s in Dublin generated over €2 million annually from parking fees while at the other end of the scale St Lukes Hospital generated €356,000.
Health expert Margret Hawkins explained the revenue typically goes towards covering general operating costs at most hospitals.
She told KCLR about how some hospitals, like St. Luke’s in Kilkenny, use alternative payment methods, keeping the price down.
