Ambulance disruption planned for next week has been averted after unions agreed to suspend industrial action following Labour Court talks with the HSE.
SIPTU and Unite have stood down a planned 72-hour strike and ended an ongoing work-to-rule at lunchtime today.
SIPTU Ambulance Sector Organiser John McCamley said that while the talks had been difficult and challenging at times, they believe that “significant progress” has been made.
Unite Regional Officer Eoin Drummey said:
“Our members have shown enormous unity, professionalism and determination throughout this dispute, and that collective strength has been central to bringing discussions to this stage.
“However, it is important to stress that the issues at the heart of this dispute have not disappeared, and the unions retain the right to reissue industrial action notice if a satisfactory resolution is not achieved.”
