The Gowran father and son duo of Tony and Danny Mullins were the toast of punters at Tipperary last evening after they teamed up to win the two-mile maiden hurdle with the strongly-supported favourite Erlkonig.
Having finished second to Queen Alphabet on his Irish debut at Kilbeggan, Erlkonig was backed from a morning price of 5-2 into 13-8 market leader at the off and the grey made every yard of the running under a canny ride from Danny to beat Cassell’s Rock by seven lengths.
