The Tanaiste last night assured beef farmers in Carlow that Ireland has serious clout in Europe when it comes to negotiating compensation for them in the event of a “no deal Brexit”.
Simon Coveney was in the Seven Oaks Hotel in Carlow town for a meeting organised by Fine Gael on Brexit.
Minister Coveney singled out EU Agriculture Commissioner Phil Hogan for mention when he told KCLR that the Kilkenny native would ensure Irish farmers were looked after.
