Hurling takes centre stage in Carlow this weekend, with semi-finals taking place across all grades of the championship.
In the JJ Kavanagh Carlow Senior Hurling Championship, defending champions Mount Leinster Rangers face Bagenalstown, while Ballinkillen take on St Mullins.
Both semi-finals take place on Sunday at Netwatch Cullen Park, with live coverage of both games on KCLR’s Carlow frequency, thanks to Dan Morrissey & Co.
Mount Leinster Rangers topped the group and will head into the semi-final as favourites to retain their title.
KCLR analyst Joe Nolan believes Niall Bergin’s side have once again shown their strength and depth throughout the campaign.
“They probably unearthed more talent and tweaked this again this year. There is no game so far we have really seen their full hand.
Nolan says the defending champions have yet to show their full capabilities, while their strength across the squad could prove crucial as the championship reaches its decisive stages.
“They are the team to beat, rightly on top of the group on merit. Their panel strength and depth is something most other teams in the semi-final won’t have compared to theirs.”
With a place in the Carlow Senior Hurling Championship final at stake, Mount Leinster Rangers will be looking to underline their status as the team to beat when they meet Bagenalstown on Sunday.
