Third appeal to Waterford’s North Quays development being investigated by An Bórd Pleanála

An Bórd Pleanála say they have now received a third appeal to Waterford’s North Quays development, that may be valid.

The closing date for submissions on the planned retail, transport and tourism development on the Ferrybank side of the river was last week.

However, there was some confusion created over whether or not any valid appeals were received.

Wednesday was when the last submissions on the plans were to be received by An Bórd Pleanála.

On Thursday, Waterford County Council put in a call to see had any objections been received and they were told that only one had come up but it was deemed invalid.

However, on Friday it emerged that a second had been submitted and it was in fact a valid appeal.

In a statement to KCLR at the weekend, Waterford County Council expressed their disappointment, describing it as “regrettable.”

Now today the planning board have told KCLR News they’re investigating a third appeal which may also turn out to be valid.

A decision on the plans is due in mid-July.
