Today is Wish Day in Carlow and Kilkenny

Nine local children and their families had a special wish come true last year thanks to the Make A Wish Foundation.

The charity has released the figures as their major fundraising day – Wish Day – takes place around the country today.

The charity helps fulfil the wishes of children who have very serious and life-threatening or limiting illnesses.

In just one example of their work locally in 2017, a young Kilkenny boy with a very serious heart condition and his mother were treated to a trip to the North Pole to meet Santa Claus.

Susan O’Dwyer from the foundation told KCLR News all donations today will be hugely appreciated.
