Motorists are advised to drive with caution in around Kilkenny City this lunchtime as hundreds are taking part in the Medieval Mile Marathon.
The race got underway this morning from Ormonde Street and continues until around 3pm this afternoon.
The route will take in some of the most historic sites in the city before winding out on to country roads before making its way back to Kilkenny to finish in front of Butler Gallery in the heart of the city.
Gardai are advising of intermittant traffic disruption in the city and are asking motorists to allow additional time for journeys and to be patient throughout the race.
