The Transport Minister is supporting a Sinn Fein Bill brought before the Dail last night in the name of a young Kilkenny boy who died outside his home last Summer.
Paschal Donohue last night said he was supporting the Bill allowing for a 20km per hour speed limit in certain residential areas.
Minister Donohue suggested a pilot scheme to review the practicalities of reducing speed limits in some areas – and says it will be at the discretion of local authorities.
He paid tribute to the parents of Jake Brennan, who have been campaigning for lower speed limits following the death of their 6 year old son.
