Tributes paid as Martin McGuinness dies age 66

Tributes are being paid to former Northern Ireland Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness.

He died overnight at the age of 66 after being sick for several months.

A former member of the IRA’s Army council McGuinness transitioned to politics and is credited with being one of the key men in leading republicans to pursue peace.

He was Sinn Féin’s chief negotiator during Good Friday Agreement talks.

Kilkenny Sinn Fein Councillor David Kennedy says his role in the peace process showed the strength of character of the man.
