An unusual All-Ireland medal goes under the hammer in Kilkenny today.
The Celtic cross was handed out to the Kilkenny team who won the All-Ireland substitute final in 1911.
It’s part of a rare book and collector’s auction in the Ormonde Hotel in Kilkenny.
Limerick were due to play Kilkenny in the final however the treaty county wouldn’t travel meaning Tipperary played Kilkenny in the final with the Cats coming out on top.
Auctioneer George Fonsie Mealy says it’s a rare piece.
