Upgrade works to improve water supply in south Kilkenny

Over 100 homes in South Kilkenny will benefit from a half a million euro investment in upgrading the water supply network.

Residents in Ballygriffen, The Sweep, Owning and Belline will have a more reliable water supply after aging watermains are being replaced by Irish Water.

This latest project in Carrigeen by Irish Water involves a significant upgrade of the water supply network in the area which sees around 4 point 5 kilometres of new watermains installed.

More than 100 customers will benefit from these improvements in supply and a reduction in water outages.

The project got underway in August and is due to be completed in towards the middle of December.

Irish Water priortised the works after frequent bursts resulting in significant disruption to the community last winter and easter.

They say lost water is around 40 percent in Kilkenny which is below the national average of 47%.
