“Wind turbines won’t impact on our historical heritage.”
That’s according to outgoing Junior Heritage Minister Malcolm Noonan who says legislation introduced by the 33rd Dail will protect and celebrate our historic landscapes.
The former Carlow Kilkenny TD has been speaking after the Winter Solstice took place at Knockroe in Kilkenny where he launched a new publication supporting the Lingaun Valley over the weekend.
Minister Noonan says the Historical and Archaeological Heritage Act is an important piece of legislation,
“So there have been concerns in the past that the landscape could be impacted by wind turbines, but the historic and archaeological heritage act, which I brought through, the 33rd Dail is a really important piece of legislation that will protect not just these monuments, but these historic landscapes.”
“I think it’s really important a piece of legislation that will support communities and not just to celebrate these landscapes, but ensure that they are saved and conserved long into the future. I think it will add to the wonderful work that’s already being done by the local community at Knockroe.”
