Works are to take place over the next while to make drivers more aware of the new roundabout on the Kilkenny Road out of Carlow.
A new secondary school is being built there at the moment however county Councillors raised concerns about its safety, so an audit was carried out.
The issue was brought to light at a Carlow County Council meeting last year where some Councillors felt that the roundabout was very narrow if approaching from the Carlow side heading for Kilkenny.
It was also said that Lorries and cars were mounting the footpath there in order to get around the bend.
In light in this, Director of Services Liam Fitzgerald says he would do an independent assessment of the roundabout.
His recommendation is that they need to improve driver’s awareness particularly when heading towards Kilkenny.
The work around that will take place early this year.
