Met Eireann have issued a Status Yellow warning for Carlow and Kilkenny, as well as Munster, Wexford and Galway.
The warning came into effect at 2pm today, and will be in place until 2pm tomorrow.
Heavy downpours are expected to hit parts of the country over the next 24 hours, and people are advided that thundery showers may result in spot flooding.
Speaking to KCLR News, Carlow Weather’s Alan O’Reilly discussed what’s in store for the evening and night.
“Very heavy rain pushing up from the South of the country, and it will move up across the country, the heaviest of it will move further West, away from Carlow and Kilkenny tonight, but still looking at 10 to 20 millimeters of rain likely for Carlow and Kilkenny, and West Kilkenny could see possibly a little bit higher, maybe 20 to 25 millimeters of rain”
“That rain will continue on Saturday, but it will be patchy and really variable in terms of light at times and then heavy, before clearing later on Sunday morning.”
