A horse has had to be put down in Kilkenny City this afternoon after being found laying injured on Ormonde Road.
Kilkenny Gardaí have told KCLR News they arrived on the scene after they got a call at about 3.30pm.
The horse had been pulling a sulky with three people on board when it was involved in a collision with a vehicle.
Gardaí called the vet who deemed it was necessary to euthanize the animal.
Gardaí say they’re following a definite line of inquiry and, as a result of initial investigations, the sulky has been seized.
The sulky’s occupants and the driver of the car are understood to have been uninjured.
They’re appealing for any witnesses or anyone with information to get in touch on 056 7775000.
