Young man being treated for serious head injuries after night out in Carlow Town

A young man is being treated for serious injuries after an incident in Carlow Town.

Gardaí say there was an altercation involving a number of people at the Potato Market and a man in his 20s sustained serious head injuries shortly after 1 am on Monday morning.

He was taken to St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny where his condition is still being described as serious.

It’s understood the man is well-known in Laois GAA circles.
