57 candidates have put their names forward for the local elections in Kilkenny.
There’s twenty four seats available between the four electoral areas – Kilkenny City East, Kilkenny City West, Castlecomer and Piltown.
Kilkenny City East has the largest number of candidates seeking election as 18 people are vying for the six available seats.
There’s 14 people going forward in Kilkenny City West, 13 in Piltown and 12 in the Castlecomer area all of which have six seats up for grabs.
Fianna Fail has the largest number of candidates with 17 followed by Fine Gael with 16 candidates.
6 people will represent Labour, 4 for Sinn Fein while the Greens have 2 and there’s another 14 people from other parties and independents.
The local elections take place on Friday May 23rd next.
