A Carlow mother of six will have to arrange another day to go to jail.
Monica O’Connor from Tullow was expecting to be picked up at her home yesterday to be taken to start a prison sentence.
She’s been sentenced to 10 days in Mountjoy for not paying a fine for failing to register with the authorities that she was planning to home-school two of her children.
She says it’s a constitutional right to educate children as she sees fit and she’s refusing to pay the fine.
Monica says she expects she will have to go and spend some time in prison once another date can be arranged for her to present herself at Tullow Garda Station.
