Two local groups will be getting a share of 13 million euro for Gender Equality and Migrant Integration funding that has been announced by the Department of Justice and Equality.
Kilkenny Leader Partnership will be getting three hundred and fifty six thousand, eight hundred and fifty euro as part of this latest announcement while in Carlow, St Catherine’s Community Services Centre are in line for three hundred and three thousand euro.
The migrant integration projects will provide a range of practical supports directly to migrants, including English language classes and workplace training.
Anti-racism and cultural diversity initiatives will also receive funding.
Kilkenny Leader Partnership runs a programme which provides local work-skills training and job placements to migrants who are experiencing barriers to participating in the workforce.
Meanwhile, St Catherine’s Centre on St Joseph’s Road, Rathnapish, Carlow will be getting money under the Gender Equality part of this funding.
The centre is a registered charity which provides community and voluntary supports to disadvantaged communities.
They expect to draw the funding down over the next three years.
