A Kilkenny councillor is calling for a free public water font to be installed in the heart of the city.
Malcolm Noonan says it would be good for Kilkenny to follow the example of other cities all over Europe where many of these have already been installed for both tourists and locals alike.
The matter will be put to the Municipal District members at their monthly meeting tomorrow.
Speaking to KCLR News, Councillor Noonan says it would also benefit the environment as it would reduce the number of plastic bottles being purchased and then disposed of after one use.
