“Pawned off with a bit of paint” is how a Carlow senator is describing the work that’s been carried out on Carlow Ambulance Base so far.
A number of months ago, KCLR News reported on the substandard conditions at their prefab base beside St Dympna’s Hospital.
There were fears the staff would leave the base and instead operate out of Kilkenny unless something was done.
The HSE and National Ambulance Service then promised to fix the issues highlighted regarding no heating, hot running water and various sewage problems.
It was raised in the Seanad with Junior Minister in the Department of Health, Catherine Byrne.
However, Senator Jennifer Murnane O’Connor told KCLR News this morning that very little has been done.
Instead of replacing the prefab, it was given a paint job.
Senator Murnane O’Connors says the water issues were fixed but this doesn’t go anywhere near far enough.
