The 2025 Tidy Towns competition has officially been launched by the Minister for Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht, Dara Calleary.
With a history of success in both Carlow and Kilkenny, the annual competition continues to inspire communities across the country to enhance the appearance of their towns and villages.
The competition encourages local groups to get involved in efforts to beautify and maintain their areas, with a deadline for entries set for May 12th this year.
The competition not only focuses on environmental sustainability but also fosters a sense of community spirit and pride.
Speaking to KCLR news, Maire George, Chairperson of the Ballon Tidy Towns Committee, emphasised the importance of the competition for small villages like Ballon.
She explained, “It gives a village purpose to keep it clean, creating a sense of ownership and pride among the residents.”
Communities interested in taking part are urged to submit their entries by the May deadline and continue to work together to make their towns and villages even more vibrant and sustainable.
